Your priorities are exactly the same as our’s. Dog friendly is number one. Location of the rv park/campground also matter and the size of the site. Really loved seeing your list. Looking forward to more reviews hopefully from the Western side of the US.

Hi Hardy! Lazydays almost made our list, especially since their WiFi was some of the best we’ve found. Hope to see you on the road pretty soon!

Ah, sounds pretty good. We’ll be staying at Santee Lakes, a little bit inland from San Diego. Hopefully our paths will cross some day! We’re “LifeRebooted” on RVillage.com, if you want to keep track of our location…

Ha! We left San Diego for Yuma. FWIW, we stayed at Santa Fe RV park (near Pacific Beach) for 3 weeks and found it to be a perfectly pleasant park and a great value if you guys have a Passport America membership.

Some mild highway noise and noticeable train noise, as the park backs up to the train tracks, but neither tend to bother us (quickly becomes white noise to us). They have a long, fenced off dog area (though it’s the only place dogs are allowed), a nice heated pool and jacuzzi, a huge laundry room and clean restrooms and showers. Would certainly stay there again if in the area.

Cat’s out of the bag! Catalina State Park in Tucson is our favorite campground of all so far, followed by McDowell Mountain Park near Phoenix. Both are very dog friendly but we do run into the occasional sand spurs or burrs (less often in Catalina than McDowell). We didn’t have a chance to visit Gilbert Ray or Picacho Peak. Sorry we missed you! We’re leaving Yuma tomorrow for San Diego…

We’re at Picacho Peak SP now and wanted to head towards Gilbert Ray, but heard that is was particularly dog-unfriendly due to the plethora of cactii and lack of dog-friendly trails. Sorry we didn’t find your blog earlier, as we would have enjoyed meeting up with you guys somewhere between Yuma and Tucson over the past week or so!

Hey guys! So far we’re pretty impressed with The Palms RV Resort in Yuma. We don’t usually go for “resorts” because they’re often stuffy and not very dog friendly, but this place is neither. The whole place is dog friendly (probably not too relevant for you) and they have a 1-mile walking trail around the edge of the resort. Some of the best landscaping we’ve seen, flowering bushes and trees everywhere, and everyone’s friendly. Nice pool, hot tubs, etc. If you’re looking for the opposite of boondocking, this is probably it!

Thanks for listing them out. We will be curious about your thoughts on The Palms in Yuma. We are thinking about heading that way in about 3 weeks.
