That’s fantastic.

A couple years ago we noticed that Ty was doing some of the same things Opie did on your hike. We had to make some changes, and he did great for a couple more years. Now he’s started slowing down again and we’ve had to get a stroller for him so he can keep up. That means we’re off the trails and on paths now – but at least we’re all together!

Thank you! It is always a bit tough to see our pups get slower and older. I agree with you that they don’t want to give in and slow down. It’s a really good point and that means I’ll have to be the responsible one and make sure we don’t push him too far next time.

I’m so glad you enjoy our blog!

It is really difficult watching our fur kids get older, they don’t want to “give in” to the fact either and will push on. Opie seems just as happy out on the trails despite the heat.

We really enjoy your blog!

Safe travels.

Yeah, it’s funny because I’ve been lamenting how active Opie is and I can’t wait until he slows down. Now that he’s slowing down, I’m sad. Although to be fair, Opie wants to hike as much as he has before, he just tires out more than he used to. Hopefully the rimadyl will help Dixie. We only give Opie a small dosage after big hikes when he really needs it. The glucosamine and fish oil seems to keep him pretty well maintained most days.

Can’t wait for you two to head out West and check out the sites. The hiking out West is damn amazing.

I think we’ve decided for sure that Mike no longer has an unreasonable fear of heights since he went out there without much hesitation. The arch looks narrow, but it’s probably about 5-6 feet across at the most narrow point so it feels pretty sturdy!

I don’t know if you and Eric made it to Sedona but if you haven’t, I think the two of you would love the hikes here!

Thanks! There are so many wonderful hikes here for people of all levels! If you make it here, definitely try a few of the trails. Sedona truly is a beautiful spot!

We’re heading to the vet in a couple weeks and will likely get her on Rimadyl. Can we discuss for a moment how much it stinks to watch your dog get older?? It just breaks my heart. Anyway, hopefully the meds will work their magic and she’ll be able to join us on these kinds of hikes when we get out west. Your photos are beautiful We are looking forward to it.
